Meet HyperBody of Lincoln Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to HyperBody.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was raised by a basketball coach and racquetball pro, so I learned to love working out at an early age. I went to school for performance art, fashion, video, clown, and mime. When I moved to LA 3 years ago I fused my crafts together to create HyperBody, a hyperreality where fitness is the entertainment! Once I got my fitness instructor certification, I started group fitness classes at Live Arts in Glassell Park then went on to teach at EveryBody gym in cypress park. I began taking on clients for personal training. This fall I moved into my 80s dream loft in Lincoln Heights which is now my home and private fitness studio, some may say it looks more like a nightclub! I train all my clients at my studio and continue to teach group classes at EveryBody and will start offering classes at Pieter Performance Space in 2018!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle was in the beginning when I was trying to build up a following and fill my classes. It was difficult to stay positive and not doubt myself or career choice at times when I’d have no one showing up to class. It was during this rough period when I started using positive affirmations aka ‘Hyper Affirmations.’ I still use them everyday! They’ve helped me stay strong and grounded, and have put a lot of power into HyperBody!

HyperBody – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
HyperBody is me and my company. It’s a lifestyle that fuses fitness, fashion, and the absurd. It’s fitness motivation, personal training, group fitness classes, a private fitness studio, a clothing line, workout videos, music, and a performance artist! I specialize in dance fitness, high-intensity interval training, calisthenics, and entertainment. I’m most known for creating the FITNESS RAVE, an aerobics class disguised as a rave. I take you beyond fitness into a neon-drenched party atmosphere of glow sticks, lasers, and blacklights.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I feel proud when I see how I’ve made a difference in people’s lives. It’s a good sign that I’m on the right career path.
