Rising Stars: Meet Gt Bracken of Mar Vista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gt Bracken

Hi GT, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for film began in childhood, sparked by a love for movies and the classic films my parents introduced me to. As a kid, I started by making short videos on YouTube, and later, I collaborated with friends in high school to create short films that gained local recognition and exposure in my hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. Driven by my passion for film, I applied to film schools in Southern California, ultimately spending two years at Santa Monica College studying film production before transferring to UC Irvine to study Film Studies.

As my passion for entertainment deepened, my interests expanded to include music and photography more extensively. I became increasingly drawn to the music industry, focusing on promotional photography for bands, artists, and models, as well as event photography for live music. Despite my evolving interests, my commitment to creating and pursuing my passions has remained.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey hasn’t been easy, but that’s what drives me forward. My interests and priorities are always evolving, and I believe that’s natural. Staying motivated to pursue what I believe in can be tough, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be easy—if it were, there’d be no need for sacrifice. I’ve had to fight hard to keep my dreams alive while balancing the things I need to do with what I truly want to do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I consider myself multi-faceted because I have a wide range of interests. My greatest strengths are video editing and photography, and I’m actively working on improving my skills in videography. These creative pursuits all seem to complement each other naturally. I’m also deeply interested in music—not so much in playing instruments, but in understanding the behind-the-scenes aspects like production and management. I believe I have a good eye and ear for what works both visually and aurally.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am a really big sports fan. I think people who are in the arts typically separate themselves from that world. But my dad was a big sports fan and I grew up playing sports, if I wasn’t an artist I would probably be an athlete.
