Exploring Life & Business with Gassia Joulakian of Petit Bizoo – Art Studio, inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gassia Joulakian

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My earliest memories of myself is drawing all the time and wanting to be some kind of an artist, creator. Maybe a fashion designer or interior designer, but never an art teacher to children. As I grew more in the art world my passion was directed more and more towards working with children of all ages. Even before finishing my BFA, I was already teaching in schools with my own curriculum and also training school teachers. Teaching year after year confirmed my passion more and more and I am very convinced that my artistic talent is to inspire the younger generation to find their creative path. I learned that when a child says no to my guidance it means it’s my duty to listen to their guidance and open doors to their way of thinking. Another childhood dream was to have my own store that has books to share with my visitors, I never new that store would be an art studio with my collection of children’s art books to share with my young artist. 14 years ago I opened my home studio to my neighborhood children to come and take some classes with me while teaching art in a private school. The home studio grew bigger than I imagined and that’s when my husband and I decided to open up the art studio in 2016, and it has been a fun and fulfilling experience since then and I hope it brings the same joy to all the families that walk as it does to me!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There is no smooth road ever, it’s how we react to it. I don’t see obstacles as struggles but as challenges. The pandemic was definitely a struggle though but then again I learned so much from that too! To find different ways to create and be together.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Petit Bizoo – Art Studio is an art studio for children. The studio offers art classes for ages 4 to 17. Art Play Date for toddlers and their parents, Art Parties for any age, Art Day Camps, and paint nights for adults.
Every week a theme and a medium is chosen. The main mediums used are painting on canvas, watercolor painting, clay hand building and block printing. These mediums rotate and the themes can be seasonal or famous artist inspired.
The art teacher guides and inspires the young artists with our lesson and once the young artists start with their art the teacher will not interfere much with their creative process and their interpretation is encouraged.

As the owner and creator of this program, my aim is to share the love of art and show them that art is for everyone. We offer creative project ideas and use quality supplies. Above all what is special about our brand is that we show genuine love and care to anyone who walks in our doors. We take pride that we have created a space of kindness and respect to each other with all our differences.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Our high school aged program is new and I would like that to grow. Would love to be better equiped with block printing tools and equipment. A second location and franchise is always in the back of my mind but the aim is never loosing the soul of this magical place!
