Check Out Emily Scher’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Scher

Hi Emily, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my career as a 3D computer special effects animator. After having children I wanted to continue my creative endeavors but stay close to home so I became a photographer. I started out capturing sunsets, waves and Beach Life. Today, that is still my favorite genre. I branched out into event photography and lifestyle. Currently I shoot covers/content for Malibu Magazine and Calabasas Style Magazine. I continue to photograph events, nuptials, portraits, head shots and am now venturing into real estate photography.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve been very blessed with a smooth path. Opportunity has knocked from the start with publishers and gallery owners seeking me out to work with them. It’s always validating when that happens along the way. As long as I’m creating beauty, I’m happy! Living in Malibu makes that easy. The scenery and people who live here are gorgeous! I look forward to this new chapter I’m endeavoring into with real estate photography. I know so many great realtors here so I’m looking to form new relationships with them and pursuing my passion for beautiful architecture.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for my focus on “Beach Life” and flower photography. I love to capture waves, underwater images, shells, sea glass and sand patterns. It’s always great when nature and wildlife come together. Wildflowers are exciting to me as well. It’s a pleasure to go hunting around Southern California to find enormous fields of color.

I think what sets me apart from others is my fascination with water textures as well as the macro world of flora. Many photographers bring attention to both, but there’s always room for more exploration.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Standing at the edge of the sea watching an amazing sunset or sunrise makes me happy. Watching offshore waves lift their veils in the wind always raises my spirit. Seeing a huge flock of pelicans soaring and diving makes me giddy. Finding well honed pieces of sea glass on the beach or a special shell elevates my day!
