Today, we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Vasquez.

Tamara Vasquez

Hi Tamara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When my children were younger they were in the 4H program. We learned all about different animals and how to care for them. Well the goats were the sweetest and funny little creatures.

Well one thing led to another my kids are grown and I’m still hooked on them. I’m allergic to milk and I found that I could drink it and then tried to make my own products and then it just happened. I’m so glad it did!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a learning experience. All goats have different milk. Some are rich, some thin like nonfat milk.

It took me sometime to figure out recipes and to make them shelf stable. That was the hardest part. My products are milk based so just trial and error.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a goat breeder! I breed goats, and I use the milk for my products. I care for them, feed them, and keep them healthy.

After that, I take the milk and freeze-dry it for the soaps, scrubs, and other things. I use raw milk for the creams and the lotions. What separates me apart? I do it all myself. My products are organic and made from happy, healthy goats.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
I didn’t know what I was doing, and I didn’t know how hard it would be. Am I sorry I did it? No.

It’s been an amazing journey that I wouldn’t have changed for anything. All I can say is do your best! Do what you like and enjoy it. It’s hard work, but I promise it’ll be worth it in the end.
