Today we’d like to introduce you to Alea O’Shea
Hi Alea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My entire life has revolved around creativity. Growing up, my mother owned a dance studio, and I was there as soon as I could walk. By the time I was nine, my parents noticed my vibrant personality and introduced me to acting. With an older brother already in the industry, I wanted to follow in his footsteps, making the transition seamless.
At the age of twelve, I landed my first major role on the cult classic ‘Home and Away,’ and my passion for acting has only grown since then.
Over the years, I’ve acted in numerous international productions, choreographed award-winning dance routines both locally and overseas and recently discovered a love for content creation and creative direction.
I fell into the “influencer” category early on, gaining followers through my various pursuits. But it wasn’t until recently that I realized my deep passion for creating immersive and unique video content for both brands and myself.
It was actually just last December that I took a leap of faith and decided to invest in learning professional editing software. So in that respect, my journey is just beginning, but I have big dreams and goals that I’m excited to pursue
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has certainly been an interesting one. I moved away from home at 18 to pursue acting, constantly grappling with the choice between family and career. This meant staying overseas through major milestones, COVID-19, facing various mental health challenges, and going through my formative years of becoming an adult away from home.
Ultimately, I believe these experiences shaped who I am today. There’s no art without some struggle – as ‘tortured artist’ as that may sound haha. Each hurdle has taught me invaluable lessons about myself. Whether it’s dealing with the constant rejection and instability inherent in acting or working countless side jobs to stay in places of opportunity, the discipline and self-awareness I’ve gained makes it all worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I often feel like I have my finger in many pies, making this kind of question tricky to answer.
In a single week, you might find me choreographing dance pieces, auditioning, working on set, or conceptualizing, filming, and editing creative content.
Ultimately, I think I have big feelings and a big imagination, and I pour that into every outlet possible. And maybe this versatility is what sets me apart from others.
I give 100% to everything I do, always striving to progress and push boundaries in every aspect of my creative life. And maybe this is ultimately what I am most proud of.
I’m not sure what I’ll be doing in three years—or even tomorrow—and that openness to where life takes me, is what excites me the most.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Two things that often surprise people about me are:
I’m only 23—people often assume I’m older.
I’m a one-person show. I frequently get asked who shoots and edits my content, and the truth is, I do it all myself. Every piece of content I create for Instagram or a brand is entirely my own blood sweat and tears 😉 from filming to complete editing, even down to sound design.
