Life & Work with RE@L RAYDON AKA REAL of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to RE@L RAYDON AKA REAL

Hi RE@L RAYDON AKA REAL, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in New Orleans so I was brought up on good music. My mom was a dancer on Soul Train and my Aunt Alisa Randolph, a former member of the funk/R&B girl group Madame X, shaped my early musical journey in Hawaii, introducing me to the world of studio sessions and performances. Sy, a Michael Jackson impersonator would teach me MJ’s moves while my Uncle Jesse’s drumming instilled rhythm in me. In high school, fueled by Linkin Park and rap freestyles with my friend Andrew, I found my passion. Inspired by the movie 8 Mile,” I delved into rap.

My journey continued in Houston’s 3rd Ward, at my first rap performance where Big Hawk predicted my success. Unfortunately I never got to work with Big Hawk since he passed away but My Uncle Ruben connected me with Trey8 of No Limit and we got in the studio and I recorded 7 tracks all in one night. I dropped my first single Pink on the Inside shortly after that Vegas became my next chapter, aiding my cousin Revenue Hefner with the family label StackaGrip Ent. Tragedy struck, and after a hiatus, I moved back to LA. My mixtape “Noise Complaints” went silver on Dat Piff and I dropped my debut album “Believe in What’s Real.” In 2015 I was on a reality show called “Welcome to Sweetie Pies” and in 2020, I founded Won Nation to honor one of my favorite rappers 2Pac.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it hasn’t. I’ve been through a lot. Major artists have been copying everything I do. Some People I use to work were giving away my unreleased music to artists signed to major labels without my consent so I had to find a new team and start over. I’ve been feeding this industry for the last 10 years they been taking the flow the energy my personality my signature phrases just everything I do. They basically keep cloning me through the music. They have this weird obsession wanting to be me but instead of reaching out to work with me they choose to to start rap beefs. I receive more hate than love and support but that’s ok this is how it is when you’re at the top. It’s a lonely road. I’ve lost a lot of people that I worked with, people that I had plans to work with and loved ones. Close people who supported me the most and showed me the most love passed away.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m multifaceted and I inspire the music industry. I’m a current trend everywhere and artists learn from me when they listen to my music and when I speak. I started my own genre called REAL-HOP which is the next era of hip hop and music in general. I’m a spiritual advisor for people. People have always come to me for advice about music or life decisions. I also am the owner of my own independent record label called WON NATION.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes always have a backup plan for your business. I specialize in Artist Development so you have to be around people and covid-19 created an problem. Always have a 2nd and 3rd backup plan. I learned to always appreciate life because normal things that you have everyday like talking to people in person can be taken away and another important thing is no matter if the world is coming to end, people will show you who they really are, good or bad. Also, it helped me learn who I was and brought the best out of me. I came up with my best lyrics, I directed my own music videos, it just made me better. Life is too short appreciate today because tomorrow is never promised.|
