Today we’d like to introduce you to Freddie Ravel
Hi Freddie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My earliest recollection of music started about the age of five. I grew up in a home that was filled with the music of Latin America that my Colombian mother still plays to the day. The dance rhtyhms of Merengue , Cumbia, salsa, mariachi, Samba, Calypso, Reggae… on and on and on… The grooves were always pulsating in our house and a few years later, I would take up the accordion. By age 10 I had gravitated the piano and never looked back. Oh my God 88 keys of Bliss with a full range of the orchestra right at your fingertips… Still the most seductive musical instrument on the planet! A few years prior, I was playing an imaginary game of hide and seek when I came across an empty refrigerator in my parents garage that was unplugged and empty. I climbed into it, closed the door and thought to myself I have found the ultimate hiding place! What I didn’t know was that my oxygen supply was limited to a few more minutes, and when I attempted to get out, the door would not open! I panicked for the first minute, but quickly found myself hearing a beat in my head… 1 – 2 , 1-2-3… Again and again, and I began to pound that on the inside of the door, which calm me down and gave me some sense of purpose and focus… My grandmother heard the sound opened it up, and I came tumbling onto the garage floor in a puddle of my dripping sweat… Right then and there I realized that the combination of music and sound saved my life. I began practicing the piano 10 hours a day, and while I was still in high school began playing with Moacir Santos, the teacher of Sergio Mendes… Later I would be hired by Sergio Mendes at the age of 23, then get my first record deal with Universal .
My bio: Freddie Ravel is a globally-celebrated Business Success Expert, Keynote Speaker and Grammy-nominated Pianist who brings a vibrant symphony of insights and joy to the world of business transformation through music.
As the founder of Life In Tune, Freddie has directed Earth, Wind and Fire, rocked stadiums with Carlos Santana, played the GRAMMYs with Prince, made films with Madonna and Sheryl Crow, cut tracks with Kanye and led the teams behind J Lo, Bruno Mars, Lady GaGa and The Beatles to emerge as the expert’s expert on multi-cultural and generational integration.
Freddie’s published works with Deepak Chopra highlight the connection between music and thought, emphasizing how the “pause between the notes” is essential to effective communication. Invited by the family of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Freddie served as a featured author alongside Maya Angelou, Stevie Wonder, and Muhammad Ali, underscoring the power of listening as the key to success. This inspired the creation of Life in Tune—a groundbreaking music-applied-to-behavior system described by Fortune 500 clients as “the perfect balance of content and entertainment” and a “customized keynote, riveting TED Talk, and live concert rolled into one.” Knighted by the Knights of St. John and dubbed the “Keynote Maestro” by the City of Los Angeles, Freddie’s down-to-earth approach transforms the communication landscape for clients such as IBM, Blue Cross, Apple, and NASA, bringing timeless truths that help businesses and the human condition evolve from dissonance to harmony.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh, I already answered this in the previous question… Getting trapped in a refrigerator and being moments away from near death was an early childhood challenge that ended up shaping what I do today. Since listening saved my life, I travel the world as a keynote speaker and performer showing fortune 500 companies in organizations that being a better listener is the key to living a Life in Tune!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The consistent thread, throughout my journey as a composer, artist musician, keynote speaker, performer and band leader would be the role of bridgebuilder.
Again, and again I would somehow end up being the only American in an all Japanese band, or in an all Indian band or the one to record “Honor the Magic” – the very first salsa tune Earth, Wind and Fire has every released.
I’m especially proud of the work my team, and I have been able to complete for Life In Tune® – the very first music system that connects the structure of music with the structure of success.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
My profound love of everything, nature and a lifetime of climbing mountains, rafting rivers, and devotion to environmental stewardship.
