Today, we’d like to introduce you to Leilani Garcia.
Hi Leilani, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My interest in marketing started when I was working at Urban Outfitters. I was the men’s department manager and loved my role there. I was able to work on special merch releases, music releases, and community events.
That role led me to a marketing role with the sneaker company Shiekh Shoes. It was there that I fully dove into the marketing events, campaigns, and sponsorship field. I worked on projects with Nike, Jordan, Puma, and LRG, to name a few.
I learned a lot about customer connection, and that sparked the idea of starting my own creative agency to help local businesses with marketing needs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has definitely not been a smooth road. My experience in my last role was a very challenging one.
Dealing with colleagues who did not see my vision was really challenging, especially since I strongly believe in the people who help businesses thrive. However, that experience really helped me hone in on my craft and my vision.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a marketing professional specializing in partnerships, events, and campaigns. I am known for my outside-the-box thinking, attention to detail, and experiences. I strongly believe in memorable experiences because people will never forget how someone or something made them feel.
I am most proud of the events I was able to design and produce with big brands such as Nike, Jordan, LRG, Starter, and many more. What sets me apart from others is my attention to every single detail. I am that person who thinks about how a person will get to my event and the type of straw my guests will be sipping out of. I really believe in the small things making the biggest difference.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I actually went to school for cosmetology. I received my cosmetology license in two different states, Arizona and California. I was a makeup artist, brow artist/esthetician, and hairdresser for five years after receiving my license.
