Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol Glover
Hi Carol, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I wear many hats as a California licensed real estate attorney, a Realtor®, and a developer, earning the moniker “Real Estate Triple Threat™” from my colleagues. My passion for real estate traces back to my childhood, thanks to my parents. Back in the 1960s, my mom and dad unknowingly began a side business of renovating charming Manhattan Beach cottages. As kids, part of our chores included helping them fix up these properties. The little red house now situated in Polliwog Park was a family-owned rental back then, and somewhere in its layers of paint are the strokes of my childhood brush. These early “chores” sparked a lifelong love for a career that I cherish, and I am forever grateful to my parents for teaching me about property ownership and the concept of “value add” from such a young age.
After college, I immersed myself in the real estate world by working for a syndication company. This role allowed me to learn the ins and outs of development, fundraising, property management, and selling completed projects. My curiosity about the intricacies of real estate deals led me to Loyola Law School, where I gained a deeper understanding of the legal aspects of real estate, business law, and probate and trust administration.
Equipped with this knowledge, I soon found myself practicing in these areas, and eventually, I launched my own law firm. Alongside, I created a boutique development business focusing on the Beach Cities of Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Hermosa Beach. My extensive local knowledge, combined with my development experience, real estate broker license, and law degree, has uniquely positioned me to meticulously review and handle real estate transactions for both myself and my clients.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The real estate world is rarely a smooth road. Each facet—deal creation, development, and sales—comes with its own set of thorns. Issues with land, title, zoning, and construction delays are common, and the unpredictability of the economy adds another layer of complexity. Many residential development or redevelopment projects span over a year, and unfortunately, no one has lent me a crystal ball to foresee economic fluctuations. We’ve experienced both grand slams in profitability and taken a few lumps along the way. The journey involves a continuous cycle of evaluating new deals, performing due diligence, and deciding whether to proceed. It’s a blend of processing technical information and trusting your gut instincts. While the challenges are plentiful, each obstacle provides a learning opportunity and a chance to refine our approach.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Absolutely. My first piece of advice is to do your research thoroughly. Understanding the landscape of your chosen field is crucial. Secondly, don’t hesitate to reach out to successful professionals for mentorship, whether it’s a long-term relationship or just a brief conversation. True professionals who believe in abundance and opportunity are often more than willing to share their insights and experiences. When I was starting out, I wish I had known the value of these connections and the importance of building a network of supportive, knowledgeable mentors.
