Check Out Brandon Stuart’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Stuart.

Brandon Stuart

Hi Brandon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Being driven by ideas and stories is central to my own story. A gravitational pull to bring my ideas into existence has propelled me through a variety of creative mediums, including literary work, film, advertising, and entrepreneurial endeavors. But my ‘story’ is more appropriately captured in my fierce commitment to my family.

When my wife and I had our twins prematurely in 2016, our lives were dramatically altered. My son was only 1lb 13oz at birth when he began a long road of physical therapy and surgeries to recover. This experience rattled my sense of stability but also drove within me an even deeper appreciation for my blessings.

Through the most challenging experiences of my life to date, some of my most meaningful and impactful ideas emerged, and my entrepreneurial skills matured. I am happy to say my kids are 7 today and healthy. I’ve been married 11 years now and grateful to have co-founded two startups that have been acquired. I am currently focused on advertising and writing (both children’s and adult non-fiction).

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have encountered a number of obstacles along the way. That said, I feel it important to recognize the many people, opportunities, and blessings that have enabled me to experience and achieve what I have.

Becoming a new dad to premature twins and the various medical experiences that followed has been my biggest obstacle to date. It rattled my sense of stability in ways I hadn’t experienced prior. It both threatened my creativity and inspired it – which I am still identifying to this day.

COVID thrust us all into a globally experienced limbo and definitely produced considerable business, anxiety, and creative setbacks.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Creative Director, Writer, and Entrepreneur. A focus on ideas has been the common thread throughout all of my work.

Currently, I am focused on advertising and writing meaningful children’s stories and adult non-fiction.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Make more stuff! It sounds simple, but I recall the inspirational designer Aaron Draplin making this comment at one point, and it stuck with me. Produce more creative material…it’s ok if it’s all not groundbreaking. It keeps your wheels turning and your internal energy active.

Also, don’t ever let your job consume all of your creativity. Do excellent work, but if your instinctual creativity is entirely commercialized, you will lose your sense of self in the process.
