Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Rauda
Hi Richard, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been drawn to music, it’s my best friend. I used to stay up until 4 am every night sneaking through my parents cd collection, looking for the good stuff. The good stuff is a lot of things, but at the time I was obsessed with alternative rock bands like Nirvana, The Misfits, and The Smashing Pumpkins. It just made me want to pick up a guitar and figure out how to do that too.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Pursuing rock music in the 21st century is not an easy task; if you don’t truly love it, I don’t recommend doing it. For a couple of years I was couch surfing, sleeping in my car, working odd jobs just trying to figure out where I was headed towards, and also booking band practices and shows in the middle of it all.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a singer-songwriter, band leader, and music producer. I think I’m mostly known for my work in my band Arcadia Bay, but this year I’ve taken a role in the production side of things as well. I’ve been producing music for both Arcadia Bay and a very talented artist named Zach Day. I am most proud of the songs I’ve helped bring to life. Arcadia Bay will be releasing our debut record this year; two singles I produced for Zach have come out within the last couple of months, and more are on the way! I think what sets me apart from others is that I am of the belief that every detail matters, and they all add up. Every single lyric, every single mic choice, the decision to give the day your very best try; it all means something.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
There are too many to pick just one; but at the moment, making salsa with my Grandma before a family function.
