Angelina Padron

Angelina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey started about eight years ago; I made a move from Chicago, Illinois, to California, seeking a fresh start and a new lifestyle aligned with my passion for health and well-being. My journey began in Palm Springs, a place where I felt reborn under the desert skies. Initially, I ventured into the fashion industry, working with Angelo Anastasio, which gave me a unique perspective on aesthetics and self-expression. During this period, I also engaged in various roles that bridged my background in health, including a position at Mayfield College where I contributed to healthcare leadership, and later, I became part owner of an independent spa. This experience solidified my love for the wellness industry.

However, the arrival of the pandemic brought significant challenges. The spa business was hit hard, leading to its closure and forcing me to start from scratch. This setback was a turning point. I immersed myself in the study of emotional wellbeing, learning from experts like Dr. Sue Morter and Dr Bradley Nelson and taking multiple bioenergetic courses. Adapting to the times, I transitioned my wellness practice online, which opened new pathways for connection and growth.

As the world began to open up, I sought to reconnect with my community physically. I initiated gatherings focused on wellness, eventually leading to the creation of Wellfest. Launched in early 2024 with the support of Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage, Wellfest has been a culmination of my efforts and vision for a healthier community. Additionally, my involvement in directing the Feel Good Festival and Hampton Fleas, along with organizing multiple retreats, has kept me at the forefront of the wellness movement.

Today, I continue to expand my practice and impact, driven by a commitment to fostering well-being and resilience in others. Through these experiences, I have not only reinvented my professional path but also deepened my understanding of what it means to live a life dedicated to health and happiness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road? Well, life has its moments of smoothness, but it’s in the struggles where the real stories unfold, right? So, which one do you want to hear? In my view, life is about how we respond rather than react. I grapple with this daily, and though I haven’t mastered it, my approach is steadily improving. The journey to where I am today has certainly faced its challenges. I still encounter both rejections and acceptances regularly. Balancing various roles and exploring new sectors requires significant energy —not only do I manage my practice, but I also oversee multiple businesses and am responsible for delivering a festival. In my practice, I’m tasked with caring for people’s emotional well-being, consistently balancing compassion with reason. Let’s just say my comfort zone definitely has windows.

The most significant hurdle arose with the pandemic. The closure of the spa, a venture where I had invested significant time, energy, and resources, was a major setback. I’m still recovering and rebuilding. The future I once envisioned crumbled over time, and this setback has been one of my greatest lessons—a reminder I sometimes forget but remember all too vividly.

Through these trials, I’ve learned the importance of flexibility, perseverance, and the power of community support. Each challenge has presented opportunities to learn and grow, not just professionally but personally, reinforcing my commitment to fostering well-being and resilience in both myself and others.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
First and foremost, I am a practitioner specializing in somatic psychology and coaching. My work focuses on helping individuals connect from mind to body to soul, addressing challenges through the body where I believe energy is stored. My approach integrates principles from both cutting-edge science and ancient wisdom, drawing from sources as diverse as the Vedas, Gallup coaching methodologies, bioenergetics, and psychology. Secondly, I am the founder of WellFest, a platform that unites multiple resources throughout the Coachella Valley. We collectively come together to showcase our gifts and talents through regular community events, retreats, and festivals. This initiative is designed to support community well-being on a consistent basis.

What I’m most proud of is the impact these ventures have on individual and community levels—helping people discover and harness their inner strengths in a way that fosters both personal and collective growth. What sets me apart is my holistic approach, combining deep-rooted philosophical teachings with modern psychological practices to create a unique pathway for healing and empowerment.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Having a mentor is invaluable, particularly when starting out in your career. However, throughout your journey, maintaining a network of one to three mentors within your field who excel in their areas is beneficial for bouncing ideas off and seeking guidance. I regularly seek advice from my guides and professionals, and sharing strategies for work has only enriched my path. It’s essential to remember that while many may share your title, each person is unique—you are your own unique presence and offer your own special brand of medicine. When I first started networking, not everyone was receptive. Some labeled me as the ‘whoo whoo girl’ and would roll their eyes when I talked about organizing wellness events. Despite this, I stayed true to my vision, consistently worked on refining my message, and spoke with passion. Doors have closed on me, but my belief in my message has never wavered. My advice is to find your message, refine it tirelessly, and never dim your light. Be open-minded, learn the ins and outs of networking meetings, and put yourself out there with curiosity.

If you don’t yet have a mentor, introduce your vision to people within your field. Look for someone who shares your beliefs and can support your growth. Networking and mentorship are about reciprocity; think about what you can bring to the relationship as well. Stay open to learning from diverse sources—often, the most valuable insights come from the most unexpected places.

In summary, approach networking with a clear understanding of what you want to achieve, and be persistent yet respectful in your pursuit. Engage with others genuinely, always ready to learn and adapt based on your experiences. This proactive and thoughtful approach will guide you in building meaningful and impactful professional relationships.
