Meet Alexandria Munchak of Education Delivered

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Munchak.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Ever since I was a little girl, I always knew that I would one day be a teacher. Growing up, I had many passionate teachers who inspired me to become an educator myself. I am proud to say that I have earned both my Undergrad and Master’s Degree in Education. Over the past 10 years, I have taught elementary school in Atlanta, Paris, Milan, and Los Angeles. While living and teaching in Europe, I was exposed to a multitude of cultures, religions and ethnicities. That experience truly enriched my life and taught me to be open minded as a teacher and as a learner. When I moved to Los Angeles 4 years ago, I decided to step outside of the classroom and start my own private tutoring company. It has been the most amazing experience being able to work one on one with students.

While living in LA, I became a certified Educational Therapist, and I am trained in a variety of programs catering to students with learning differences. In the past year, I launched a blog for parents and students to promote education in a fun and engaging way. It is called ‘Education Delivered by The Modern Teacher’, and I have truly enjoyed creating and sharing it with my followers. I am inspired daily by every student that I teach, and hopefully, my blog will inspire you as well.

Has it been a smooth road?
I was fortunate to have had a smooth transition out of the classroom. Building my tutoring business has been one of the most exciting and inspirational times of my career. While I was growing my business, I worked part time as a teacher at a private school in the Los Angeles area. I was surrounded by so many amazing and talented teachers, which was truly a blessing. Within a few months, I received a phone call from my first tutoring client, and from there word spread pretty quickly. I now work with over 20 students and feel so lucky to be doing what I love each and every day!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Education Delivered story. Tell us more about the business.
I own a private tutoring company and specialize in working one on one with students in grades K-8. I cover all aspects of learning from homework help, to entrance exam preparation (ISEE/ERB), to brain training (PACE program). I help students to elevate their learning experience by strengthening their organizational and processing skills. My ultimate goal is to teach the curriculum in a way that is effective and engaging. I want my students to learn to love learning. I feel that my teaching method is unique and individualized in that I try to uncover the true interests of my students and then implement them to teach challenging material.

Do you feel like our city is a good place for businesses like yours? If someone was just starting out, would you recommend them starting out here? If not, what can our city do to improve?
I feel that Los Angeles is a great place to start a tutoring business, one of the best in fact. I find that parents are very involved and proactive in their child’s educational journey. Furthermore, because it is such a big city-with hundreds of schools, there is room in this space for anyone looking to start their own business in education. The more passionate teachers, tutors, and educational therapists-the better! I am happy to help guide anyone interested in starting their own tutoring business.
