Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Oxford.
Tyler, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and grew up in a small city called St. John’s, Newfoundland, on the east coast of Canada. Since I was young- say 8 years old, I always had a quite weird passion for real estate. After elementary school every day, I’d rush home to check new local real estate listings…weird, isn’t it?
Here I am, 16 years old, I run a few small businesses; a clothing brand, a small brand and social media marketing agency.
The people I’ve met in my city as well as all over the world have given me such excellent opportunities to reach out and inspire people in a way I never thought I had the potential to.
I plan to keep growing- finish and publish my book in the early new year, and just keep levelling up.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Anyone who says it has been for them is a liar.
As I first started all this, my clothing brand launched, I had maybe three pre-orders, I was hyped up.
But after those sold, all my friends and family had bought something off of me- I was stuck. How do I sell these hoodies and shirts?
It took me weeks to figure out how to use social media to sell clothing especially. This will be a chapter in my book actually- so stay tuned for that.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m known in my hometown for creating my ideas when I think of them. Constantly I’m thinking of new ideas on how to make money, inspire people, or both. When an idea comes to mind, I develop it, if it works or not, that’s a different story.
So far so good.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood, in the business sense was in fact coming home every day and checking the latest real estate listings in my area. It’s so weird, the agents I grew up looking up to on these websites being an 8 or 9 year old are the same people I work with today!
