Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Balfour and Erin Chiamulon. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Named after two iconic streets in the heart of their neighborhood, where Founder Erin Chiamulon met husband & CEO Eric Balfour. Electric and Rose Avenues are where they built their life, grew their family, and started their dream together. As a female-founded brand, Chiamulon contributed her background as a WWD Stylist, Fashion Designer, and deep love of Japanese shibori to her vision of creating a brand that emulates the energy, creativity, and zest for life captured in her surroundings. Believing that Venice is not only their home but a state of mind. Each collection is infused with a patchwork of personal experiences, stories, and adventures sharing their values.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We knew it wouldn’t be easy and we have definitely had our fair share of challenges. Finding the balance of working together as husband and wife, balancing our time with our children which is the most important thing in our lives, and trying to enjoy the experience even during the hard times. Every part of the growth of the company has had different challenges, but I would say the most important thing we’ve learned is that there’s always a way through the storm.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We set out to create a brand that is a reflection of our lifestyle and our community. This is why we’re so excited about our first retail store on Abbot Kinney: it is an opportunity to bring our vision to a physical form that you can touch, feel, and experience. Electric & Rose is for the woman who carries the ocean air wherever she goes and is inspired by the free-spirited essence of our Venice neighborhood. Our collections are driven by an unapologetic desire to make every day an adventure, Infused with the individuality of off-beat urban nostalgia and an elevated beach lifestyle.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The most important thing for us has been connecting with our peers and other brand owners. We’re all facing the same challenges, and if your brand has an authentic vision, then you don’t have to see other brands as competitors. They can be allies, and you can lean on and support each other.
