Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my business in 2021. I’ve been in the dental industry since 1995 as a former certified dental assistant and then office manager. Covid forced me to be a full-time stay-at-home mom, and I wasn’t sure about going back into the workforce with my youngest son being diagnosed with being on the Autism spectrum, and I needed to figure out having a more flexible schedule. A friend of mine who is an esthetician asked me what I did before and sparked the interest in me to do teeth whitening. That’s when I decided to start my own business. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been many ups and downs with starting your business. Some days you are really busy and booked, then there are days you are not. Getting your business out there and getting known for what you do has been a struggle on social media platforms and by word of mouth for referrals.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do teeth whitening, tooth gems, and offer Grillz. with my significant other Jim, who makes them in Oahu. I am also an Esthetician Apprentice with my temp license on my way to becoming a licensed Esthetician and offering HydraFacials, waxing, and lip blushing. What sets me apart from others is my dental background of 29 years. And my enthusiasm for everything I do.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
Gosh, I have quite a few, but I would say one of my favorite childhood memories would be when I and my cousins snuck up on the roof of our farmhouse at night and stared up at the stars for hours, talking stories and laughing.
