Meet Audrey Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Love.

Audrey Love

Hi Audrey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started as a gogo dancer in NYC nightclubs and Raves. Through that journey I discovered burlesque via performers that I still work with today. Reeled in by the glamour and the freedom of expression, I put on my first makeshift costume out of store-bought lingerie and hit the stage. NYC, I did a few smaller shows because as I am a beginner of sorts, but it wasn’t till life steered me across the country to Los Angeles.

Still new and starting a new career/job in the entertainment and costume industry, I hit the ground running and started attending burlesque shows. I was given the opportunity to star alongside some amazing performers, and I never looked back.

Now I perform in several cities and entering competitions at burlesque festivals, winning the recent title of Miss Hollywood Burlesque 2023.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to where I am now has definitely not been smooth only when it comes to some personal life challenges, there’s always a fear of something holding you back and that was rejection for me as well as the hurdles of being a black performer let alone being a black woman.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a title-holding burlesque performer and published model. Which range from fashion to pin-up and also erotic. Known for my slow burn acts as well as some disco curveballs that I like to throw in the mix.

I’m a lover of fashion and styling, although some of my costumes were made for me, I make and/or embellish most of my burlesque costumes.

I’m most proud of my growth in the burlesque community; even though I’m nowhere close to where I want to me but I’m close!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I don’t believe in such things.
