Rising Stars: Meet Bully Berg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bully Berg.

Bully Berg

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My first dive into learning music was back in middle school. I went to a middle school back in the Bronx called M.S. 101. I hated music class with the recorder, and I was a bad kid, so my teacher and I didn’t get along, and I would always cut and sneak into the movies with my friends. I remember it was mandatory that I joined an after-school club because of how many problems I was getting into, and they thought it’d set me straight. I joined the animal rescue club because there was only 2 clubs left with space, and I didn’t want to join the music one. The first day they showed us a slaughterhouse or some wild-ass video of animals dying, and that was too much for my pre-teen ass, lol. I told my friend about it, and he said that I should join the guitar club with him. I decided to do it, and I would just sit in there until it ended so I wouldn’t get in any more trouble. First day in, Ms. Roughgarten & I hit it off for some reason, and she taught me all the basics of guitar. She really showed so much interest and attention to teaching me and saw how my passion just kept growing and really fostered that. She’s a real one & I’ll never forget how much she changed my life for the better. I didn’t stop cutting class, but I would cut and sneak into hers or go practice ever since.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A smooth road means you stay at the same level. Need some hills and hurdles, that’s life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a producer/songwriter. I get people wanting to work with me because they heard “So What” by Father Pocket x plusNONE or “BB.” by Naïka a lot, so that’s probably what I’m best known for at this moment. I’m most proud of the work… I have a beautiful team and also network of people I get to work with every day and really just do what we love. To create. I love every piece of art we work on, and I think what sets me apart from other producers/writers is how much I strive to create entire stories, sets, moods, and worlds in these projects. Good music & talent is just the standard, I always say. You need to stick out.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
