Meet Alexandra Forgues

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Forgues.

Alexandra Forgues

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a small town adjacent to Montreal in Québec, Canada. As a small kid, I was definitely shy, could barely talk to people, but when I started doing theatre, I found this sort of comfort in being on stage. Even though I was still shy, I was slowly coming out of my shell. So, we could say that theatre and acting is the reason I am who I am today. I kept acting onstage for many years, even graduated from an acting program back in Montreal before moving to LA. I have been calling LA my home for close to 3 years now, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities which have led me here today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely no been a smooth road. I think, to the public eye and those around me, it often seems like it is, but there have been many struggles along the way. One of the biggest ones, and anyone who was not raised in LA can relate, is being so far away from your loved ones. Moving to another country without having anyone I even knew in the US was definitely something to get used to and adapt. There are months where you will feel the need to go back home and just be with them, but you physically can’t. It can be rough at times, but I would say that any challenges you face will help you grow. You have to keep an everlasting ability to adapt to new situations and know that there are no right or wrong way to face difficult times other than to just go through them and hope to come out stronger on the other end.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Being an actress, I have the luxury to have the best job in the world where I don’t have to settle for one, I can do them all. It might sound used and reused, but it honestly is the truth. I have specialized in stage acting for as long as I can remember, from Shakespeare performances to modern classics, such as Ordinary People. However, I have recently moved to screen acting, and although they are two very different types, I have found it just, if not more, enjoyable. I have acted in some miniseries as a nurse; for example, I have shot a few music videos for major artists and have done countless auditions. This is the beginning of a career, it can sometimes seem a big slow, but what is the most important this to remember is that this type of work in a marathon, not a sprint. I believe this mentality is what sets me apart from some other starting actors.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I would say just being kind to others. There is this stereotype in the industry that people can be a bit dry or rude at times. However, I have seen nothing but kindness and have met some of the greatest people along the way. I pride myself in always treating everyone with the respect they deserve, and I strongly believe that is why I have made the connections I have today. People want to work with those they enjoy being around; kindness and humbleness will take you far.
