Hi King, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am an Artist/Musician. I am a big lover of music and a big fan of Hip Hop and Rap Music. My love for Rap continued to grow, and along with this, My Rap skills were also perfected. I then got to showcase this more- in talent shows and on other platforms, such as at My Local Church. I then decided to push through and follow this passion further because it was more than just an interest or a hobby- this was now a form of expression, a way to communicate, both for Myself and also My community, and such a big element of My Life, that it deserved to be heard. This led to further growth that continued to enlarge My artistic ability and scope. And now, here We are. Being able to get onto platforms like yours shows progress and helps Me to appreciate the process. I am getting back to making major moves, and so Watch This Space for new releases.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This journey, like many journeys on the road to greatness, has had its twists and turns. There have been times when things have not gone according to plan in the past. While pursuing your dreams, not everything would always go according to plan- there will be things that may not seem ideal in certain moments, and it may seem to put you at a disadvantage. As an independent Artist, issues such as funding, promo, and even growing to understand all the elements of the music industry whilst creating and working on your craft as a musician can take a lot of time and finances. But this is a journey, and you have to focus and be determined. Always remember your why, and hold on to that conviction. Also, have Faith. As a Man of Faith, My Hope in God has allowed Me to be encouraged in these situations, understanding that all things would work together for good. I have the goal set in front of Me, and so I will stay committed, and God Willing, everything will fall into place.
Stick with the journey because I can tell you that things will only get better. These situations allow you to appreciate the dream even more when you achieve a goal. So, just stay focused and enjoy the ride.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create Rap Music. I make Songs that have a variety of range- from Songs that would make you jump and get the listeners hyped to Music that will encourage you or make you reflect. My collection of Singles so far is diverse, and I hope that listeners can appreciate the versatility of My releases. My Music is lyrical, imaginative, cinematic, creative and energetic. My Music also is thought-provoking, and it also addresses key social and political issues and events. I aim to make great music, and I intend to continue to improve and raise the bar on the already high standards that I have set for Myself.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe that as an Artist, the willingness to learn and improve is key to ensuring that you continue to improve your art, and to grow as a creative. This is key in any career, but especially with an Artist, as this would enable you to appreciate other perspectives that will always show a positive direction with your Art. All of this would be important to your success.
I also believe that humility is important to your success. This links with the first point, but it also covers other areas, such as your vision and work ethic. As I have said before, remembering why you do what you do will keep you structured and sable. It would also ensure that the quality of your work remains to a high standard.
Another important quality is confidence. People may mistake confidence for arrogance (especially after I just mentioned humility in the point above), but there is a difference. You have to be humble but also confident in the God-given gift that you have to accomplish the God-given dream. You have to believe in the talent that you have, and that your talent is great to be on major platforms.
