Today we’d like to introduce you to Chih-Ching Tseng.
Hi Chih-Ching, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Around four years ago, I was feeling sad, and I started drawing. I had never considered being an artist before that point because I was taught that pursuing a career in art was not a viable option. However, for some reason, I found healing through putting lines and colors on paper, and I haven’t been able to stop creating since then.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge for me is probably being able to create freely while maintaining financial stability. Some of the work opportunities require certain visual styles that might not always align with my approach.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Taiwanese artist, filmmaker, and game designer. I’ve created a stop-motion short film called “ATM,” which has been awarded and selected by film festivals worldwide, including the Los Angeles Animation Festival and the LA Shorts Film Festival here in LA. The story revolves around a money machine, a poor man, and cat food.
Currently, I’m immersed in the development of a game called “Nose.” In this game, you are a nose, freed from your master, and can run to any place you desire using two of your longest nose hairs. Most importantly, smell different things, as you might discover worlds from a different perspective.
My works blend the qualities of absurdism and minimalism. If you appreciate unconventional experiences, you might find enjoyment in my creations.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Enjoy the process.
