Today, we’d like to introduce you to Shanine Alessia Young. Shanine Alessia was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Delisha E. Brown.
Shanine Alessia, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
Well for me I believe I got my wakeup call after graduating college, I got really serious about finding out my purpose and I really felt like the education field was where I needed to be. I went on to become an English teacher and taught in this field for the past 8 years.
My purpose is to empower, educate and equip others to live their best life possible. Over the years, I have grown so much in the gift of teaching. After about 4 years of teaching, I decided to publish a book based on my experiences and that book was called Reaching While Teaching: An Educator’s Guide to Impacting and Transforming Lives. This book went on to be a huge success, selling hundreds of copies, so many educators and professionals all around the world loved it and I was able to land speaking opportunities, press and much more from this one book.
Due to the success I received from my first book many people kept asking me for advice on how I went about doing this. So I decided to create a course showing them the process of self-publishing and marketing a book. That course led me to conducting 1:1 coaching which then unlocked a full coaching program. I went from helping two or three clients to helping about 20 at a time in my Books 2 Impact group coaching program. To date I’ve helped over 200 people publish and market their books and to me that means that there were over 200 lives I was able to impact. My biggest accomplishment though would have to be helping my daughter become a published author at only 3 years old, I was able to help her publish her book “Shanel’s World” and encourage other kids to celebrate their differences and everything that makes them unique by going on school tours and author visits.
You ask how did I get to where I am today? One word, Obedience. This business was birthed out of obedience and since then I’ve gone on to publish several more books of my own, leave my job as a full-time teacher to coach what I like to call Authopreneurs from all around the world and speak at different schools and organizations to help students, leaders and authors increase their confidence and become who God has called them to be while sharing their story.

Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
I am an Author Coach & Publishing Consultant. I’m the CEO of Reaching While Teaching, where I help entrepreneurs turn their story and expertise into a published book so they can increase their income and impact. Within my business we have a group coaching program called Books 2 Impact and we help our authors get clarity on the best book they should write for their business, the publishing process, how to sell books and leverage their books so that they can increase their exposure and impact. We are not a publishing company, we provide consultations & coaching to clients, our approach is unique because we don’t just help you publish the book, but we show you how to make money from your book which most coaches in the publishing space aren’t really doing. We also manage collaboration book projects at least once a year tailored towards educators and entrepreneurs. This is where individuals come together who share a common experience or expertise can write about it inside of one book and they each get their own chapters. I really love the family culture we have here at Reaching While Teaching, authors that are a part of our program build strong connections with each other and even form partnerships. I have the best team as well that help make this all happen. We have unique services and ways we specifically help those who are serious about making an impact with their book. We provide courses, training, 1:1 and group coaching, done for you publishing services and several author resources.
Delisha E. Brown has been a great friend to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Delisha and your experience with them.
Delisha and I met virtually and we instantly connected. She reached out to me as she saw I was in the publishing space and because she was working on another book. She became a client and I helped her publish and market her book “The Due Date”. This was such a transformational and powerful book of hers and I’m grateful she entrusted me with her project. She went through my Books 2 Impact program and from there we continued to stay connected.
About a year later she joined a recent book collaboration project of mine that was geared towards empowering educators entitled “To Teach or Not to Teach” and little did we know that was the start of a dynamic partnership between us. We hosted the To Teach or Not to Teach Conference together and had a successful and unforgettable conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Many of the other authors inside of the book took part in this conference as well and the attendees could not wait for us to host the next one.
We typically host this conference bi-annually and we are always looking for partners and sponsors who believe in our vision to empower those in education to make an impact in and outside of the classroom. I have gained a partner, friend and so much more in Delisha. I love that we can come together and unite our strengths to make magic. She is a dynamic speaker, author and educational consultant and I’m excited for the amazing things that are in store for us both.
