Rising Stars: Meet Tara LeGall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara LeGall.

Tara LeGall

Hi Tara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started when I was a kid. I was always drawing every chance I got. Art was always a part of me, but I didn’t really start to think of it as a career until high school. I zeroed in on fashion design, but once I was in college, I wanted to explore all my options. I took classes in painting, photography, and marketing. Fashion is still a big part of my life and always will be, but once I found my love of painting, I knew I couldn’t just do design. If you can believe it, a sip n’ paint party a few years ago is what sparked my painting journey. And once it began, it only blossomed from there.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would love to say it’s been smooth, but it definitely hasn’t been. But I guess that’s what makes life – and art interesting. Some struggles have been getting my art into the right galleries and just not feeling like I’m making the progress I should be making, Over time, I’ve come to understand that everyone’s journey is different, and the right galleries or collectors will come along in time.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I consider myself overall a Creative and not just an Artist. But if I had to pinpoint my specialties, it would be painting and fashion. I love to paint just as much as I love to sew and design clothing. And I think I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve continued to evolve. Whether it’s my style of painting or the outfits I create, I continue to learn and push myself outside of my comfort zone.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I’m grateful to have several happy childhood memories. I think some of my best memories were being in Girl Scouts. One in particular being our camping trip. I just remember having so much and being proud of myself for not being too afraid to be in the woods. Also, loved have arts and crafts using leaves and pinecones from outside. I was always a crafter.
