Life & Work with Melanie Pierce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Pierce.

Melanie Pierce

Hi Melanie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been interested in music. I remember begging my parents for a guitar so I could be like Avril Lavigne back when I was around 12 years old. I then started playing and writing songs and have been doing it ever since!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would not say that it has been smooth. I have not had a ton of belief that this was possible for me growing up from those I has been surrounded with. While I have always believed in myself, that disconnect and opposite messaging has caused a lot of confusion and angst. I’ve taken a lot of detours and have really needed to focus on myself immensely to get to where I am today. Every step of the way, I have struggled with imposter syndrome and still do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer-songwriter at my core and I write based on real-life experiences. I have been writing more and more and have been pushing myself to write about other things that are not so rooted in my personal life. For now though, with the release of this single and my upcoming EP, it is personal.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
A single favorite childhood memory? I don’t know that I have a single favorite, but I do remember and miss being carefree and not responsible for bills. As most of us did, I took my childhood for granted and could not wait to be an adult. Now I think back on how stupid that was.
