Meet Carla Cordelia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Cordelia.

Carla Cordelia

Hi Carla, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a visual development artist for animated films. I have worked on a few feature films on Netflix such as the upcoming Adam Sandler movie called LEO and currently art directing a movie in Paris. Being an international student coming to the US was tough because we have to constantly prove how good we are to stay here and work, but it made me push myself harder.

I love to tell stories through images, especially through paintings. I do believe manifesting our dreams and gratitude play such a big role!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being someone from Jakarta, I had zero connections in LA. I was told that it’s almost impossible to break into the industry without connections after school. I never gave up hope and got exactly everything I could ask for when I landed my job at Netflix 🙂

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a visual development artist. I paint concept art, and environment design specifically. Having a job I love to do definitely helps me have a strong drive to improve every day to be the best I can.

I love to make images that is heartwarming, a place that brings a sense of longing, or mystery. Portraying Southeast Asia in concept paintings are fun as well since I’m most familiar with them.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Besides art, I do believe in investing in myself. We only have one body so might as well take good care of it! Nourishing our soul and body will go a long way even career-wise 🙂
