Conversations with Elena Denisova-Clark (aka Elena D Clark)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elena Denisova-Clark (aka Elena D Clark).

Elena Denisova-Clark (aka Elena D Clark)

Hi Elena, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I sold my legal firm in Russia to come to the United States to become an entertainer. I studied acting at HB Studio in NYC, but very soon, I realized that I preferred to create my own work. This is how my first short film, “Manifesto” was born. “Manifesto” is a lockdown production created in 2021. The short won ten awards in five international film festivals since it was produced. This took me by surprise. Watching such a success of “Manifesto”, I decided to take it to the next level and shoot a feature film based on the original story. Today, the feature film script is ready for its first public reading which is scheduled in July 2023.

Briefly, “Manifesto” is a comedic story about communism. And because I was born and raised in Communist Russia, I see what is coming here, to the States. And I want to share my story through the motion picture.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My path was not smooth. To pursue my dream, I came to the United States. But I found myself in deep bad debt because I was a foreigner and did not know anyone in the States back then who could desire to help me. I had to build my finances, my relationships and new skills from scratch. I had to learn English to communicate better with my new American friends.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a New York-based actor/performer and producer. I’m also a business owner and a real estate investor. I produce my own creative work and construct my own financial freedom to help others succeed in doing the same. My first short film, “Manifesto” was made during the pandemic on a small budget.

I am proud of the tremendous success it has had over the last couple of years. The short film has received ten awards in five international film festivals. The awards include a live screening of the short film and an award ceremony with a crystal trophy in Washington, D.C., in April 2023.

My current work includes a podcast which is called “Boost your Creativity and bank account with Elena”. Podcast became an official selection in the Morgana Film Festival. My podcast hosts award-winning artists and other successful creative people who share their creativity and insights about the financial side of the industry.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was an average Soviet girl. Not spoiled, hard-working, obedient, a bit of a tomboy but still ready to marry a nice KGB guy when I turn 18. That’s how I was raised, but that’s not how I wanted to live my life.

When I was growing up, I loved the theater. I preferred to produce and direct the scene rather than play in it as an actor. To make it happen, I would create an imaginary scenario, gather the kids around me and make them act for our parents and family friends. Interest-wise, I liked painting landscapes and portraits.
