Today we’d like to introduce you to Mandy Corrente.
Hi Mandy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, everyone! I’m Mandy, a 9-year-old girl from the sunny city of Miami, Florida. I’m excited to share my journey with you and showcase my passion for music, dance, and more. At the age of three, my incredible sister Valentina inspired me to start dancing. The rhythm and movement sparked something inside me that continues to grow to this day. When I turned five, I discovered my love for singing and released my very first song titled “Sunday Funday.” Ever since then, I’ve been dedicated to creating music that brings joy to others.
To nurture my musical talents, I began taking vocal lessons at the prestigious Jan Smith Studios. It was there that I learned the art of read music, playing the piano, and even mastering the drums. My brother Daniel, a talented musician himself, has been a tremendous inspiration and guide on this musical journey.
At just seven years old, I had the incredible opportunity to perform live at the Wish House in Los Angeles, California. Singing my song “Summertime” in front of an enthusiastic audience was a dream come true. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to grace the stage numerous times, whether it’s through invitations to TV shows or bookings for special events. Performing brings me immense joy, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to share my music with the world.
I am committed to following my dreams while also prioritizing my education. I aspire to be a positive role model for children worldwide and use my music to spread happiness and love.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Throughout my journey in the performing arts, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. I’ve faced various struggles and obstacles along the way, but each of them has been a valuable learning experience. From the age of five, I’ve been performing, and with every public appearance, I’ve grown and gained new insights.
One of the challenges I’ve encountered is conducting interviews in Spanish. Since I primarily think and communicate in English, expressing myself fluently in Spanish during interviews has been a struggle. However, I’ve recognized this as an opportunity for growth and have been working on improving my language skills to overcome this obstacle.
Being a dancer has also taught me resilience. There have been instances where I’ve forgotten steps during performances, which can be quite disconcerting. However, I’ve learned to push through and continue the performance, adapting and improvising as needed. These experiences have taught me the importance of perseverance and the ability to think on my feet.
Similarly, my experiences in music have also come with their own set of challenges. Whether it’s learning new instruments or perfecting my vocal skills, I’ve had to put in a lot of effort and practice to continually improve. It’s through these struggles that I’ve developed a deeper understanding of my craft and a greater appreciation for the dedication required to succeed.
Overall, despite the bumps along the way, I’ve embraced these challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. Each struggle has shaped me into the performer I am today, and I look forward to continuing this journey, honing my skills, and discovering new avenues for artistic expression.
