Today we’d like to introduce you to Seanice Clarke. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Hey Girl Hey Game was created in July 2020 as a response to the social distancing parameters set due to the COVID pandemic. As a self-proclaimed “social introvert,” the need for meaningful and engaging social interactions manifested the idea to create a game that will invoke laughter, joy, insight, and elements of sisterhood through interactive prompts, dares, and challenges. We tested a prototype of this game at a social distancing bar crawl event. By the end of the event, women were exchange contact info and social media, creating connections. They also heavily requested the game and inquired where they could purchase it. That same day,m the cofounders began to enhance the game and design with the feedback received.
The motivation for creating Hey Girl Hey came from the sisters’ Seanice and Sharina Clarke’s polar opposite personalities. Seanice is the introverted one, while Sharina is the extrovert. Recognizing that there are so many different personalities in every social group, the sisters wanted to create a way for everyone to feel comfortable opening up and to cut through uncomfortable small talk to get to the heart of the matter.
Hey Girl Hey does just that with its various questions and challenges. The game has 150 cards with five categories of prompts: Truth, Dare, Drink, Challenge, and Never Have I Ever. Through engaging with the prompts, friends get to know more about each other and enjoy a few laughs along the way. The game fits easily into a purse or bag to tote it along to a lunch, brunch, or night out on the town with friends.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The statement “Adulting is hard. Making friends and maintaining relationships are harder” is a common sentiment that reflects the challenges many people face in building and sustaining social connections as they navigate the demands and responsibilities of adulthood. Social media and other technological advancements have not necessarily made it easier to form meaningful relationships and may have even contributed to feelings of disconnection and isolation. Hey Girl Hey offers a solution to this problem by providing a playful and interactive platform that makes it easier for women to connect with each other, learn more about each other, and support each other in a fun and engaging way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
