Community Highlights: Meet Justin Smith of Kolohe Juice

Hi Justin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Kolohe Juice story began almost two years ago. During the pandemic it hit us, if people can’t go to Hawaii, we should bring it to them. We collaborated with our long-time friend to combine local flavors with traditional cocktails. According to market research, ready-to-drink cocktails was the trend for the future and we knew that was our space. From there, we have grown tremendously, you can now find us in over 25 locations and we recently sealed a hotel deal.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being new to the alcohol industry has had its challenges. From licensing to distribution, it’s been a big learning curve but we’ve made a lot of great connections and we’ve learned that people are generally excited to help us.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kolohe Juice?
Kolohe Juice is a Premium Hawaiian Style Cocktail brand. We specialize in ready-to-drink cocktails. Currently, we have 6 different flavors which are: Sweet Guava Margarita, Strawberry Li-hing Margarita, Hawaiian Sunrise, Tropical Breeze, Coconut Mai-tai and Spicy Lilikoi Mule. Paradise in a bottle has been our slogan. What sets us apart from others is that we use real spirits in our cocktails not malt liquor like most brands and we aren’t a seltzer.

What matters most to you?
Quality is our top priority. Kolohe juice is a specialty cocktail; we only use premium ingredients because this is what sets us apart. Being from Hawaii we value doing our part in keeping the earth green. A specific example of this is that we decided to use recyclable glass bottles instead of plastic.
