Inspiring Conversations with Emily Nader of emilynaderFIT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Nader.

Hi Emily, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was unhappy; searching for an excuse to call out of work every day, lacking satisfaction in my life. I felt tired, disconnected, and confused. I wanted to create more meaning in my life. Eventually, my true passion started calling me home to Southern California, away from my life in New York City, so I quit my job and ventured to Los Angeles.

I was on a journey to get back to the roots of who I am as a being. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, all I knew was that my passion for fitness and health, along with this deep desire to help others would lead me in the right direction. I made a commitment to myself to a life full of learning and understanding all aspects of my health – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Along the way, I’ve realized that the path to taking care of my health, being the best version of myself, and feeling the best I possibly can – no matter if my goals are for weight loss, fine-tuning my nutrition, or improving my relationships – it all starts with connecting to myself, knowing who I am, then having the right tools to adjust and move forward.

Now, I live without prescription or over-the-counter drugs/medicine, approach my mental health challenges through nutrition and lifestyle, and have healthier relationships with food, substances, people, life, and most importantly, myself. Confident in my life experience and education, I decided to start my business to help and empower others do the same for themselves.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to the top is never a straight line. Just like climbing a mountain, there are ups and downs, but ultimately the change is positive. It takes knowing this, plus self-compassion and understanding to know and trust that I am moving forward even when I am experiencing something challenging. Landing at the decision to quit a job, ending certain relationships, and going against societal norms to do what you want is never easy.

Having my own business is extremely rewarding! It also can be terrifying because it’s full of things I’ve never done before (like finance, operations, social media), greater responsibility for myself and others, and not having a consistent income. These are also the best parts about it because I am challenging myself to rise to the occasion and create something that will help so many people.

I’ve also been diagnosed with “clinical labels” like Attention Deficit Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which I view as having helped me understand how my body works and how to take care of myself. I put in “work” to learn my distractions, nurture my mental health, and support my hormones.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Whether it’s a recent diagnosis requiring you to change your diet, losing weight, or becoming more confident with your nutrition habits, we will work together to achieve the transformation that sticks.

My holistic perspective allows us to get to the root of the problem and discover how we can really make lasting change within yourself. This includes taking a preventative and proactive approach toward your health, increasing strength and resiliency throughout your body systems. It also means we will dive deeper into the “blocks” that have been keeping you from reaching your goals.

You’ve had your own unique experiences that make you who you are. This is why a personalized approach is extremely beneficial. The quality of your life IS the quality of your health. You have the power to level up your health, develop your strength, build sustainable habits, and achieve your goals.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
More and more people are becoming aware of their health… Social media makes it easy for people like me to get the word out on how you can prevent disease and stay healthy through quality nutrition, physical activity, water, sleep, and stress management.

As more people shift their diets away from highly processed foods and inflammatory ingredients, it will affect the food industry and the major food manufacturing companies that are destroying our populations health with the toxic chemicals put in our food supply. These chemicals lead to poor health, causing disease, sending people to be lifelong pharmaceutical and “sick-care” customers.

More people are starting to spend their money on preventative health measures because it saves money in the long term from health care bills. Waiting until you have a disease or a major problem isn’t going to cut it anymore. At that point, there’s only so much you can do. Your money is better spent understanding a skill, learning how to take care of yourself because no one else is going to do it for you. You have the ability to pull yourself out of this toxic cycle and help shift these industries for the better.
