Inspiring Conversations with Veronica Fields of Glam It Up Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Fields.

Hi Veronica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Back in 2018, I came up with an ideal to create with a crazy ideal of blending the gaming truck party and girl spa party businesses and birthed Glam It Up Events. At a time when we were starting to social media impacting the self-esteem of girls, I wanted to create a business to celebrate girls, spark creativity, and boost self-esteem. My husband and I did tons of research and located a gaming truck builder and decided to use our savings to create an event planning and rental business. We worked very closely with builder to create a 26-foot trailer fit for royalty equipped with patio, televisions, air conditioning, hand washing stations, makeup mirrors, and bluetooth speakers. In addition to trailer, we purchased a pick-up truck to tow trailer and also had to learn how to properly haul a trailer which was an experience! Our business is mobile, we come to your home, set up, host, and breakdown. We handle everything from your invitation, favor bags, and thank you cards.

Once the trailer was complete and website, we had our official launch party in June 2019. It was a great day as family and friends somewhat understood the concept but to see it was amazing. Since this was a new niche and offerings were just popping up on the celebration scene, I had to work hard to share the message ” self-care is not selfish” and we must start teaching girls at a young age that taking time for self-will create more balance and happiness in life! We have several party packages range from tea parties, spa parties, paint parties, as well as custom events for girls, women, and organizations. Our area of coverage started out Los Angeles County and now we cover Orange County and the Inland Empire.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Although the event industry is a growing segment, getting funding for a niche business has been difficult. My business is self-funded and design cost, trailer construction, and ongoing maintenance cost was costly but I believed in my vision and mission. The girl spa business is growing and every day, I see someone new entering in the girl spa party space which is wonderful but many are self-funded and that’s a problem. Now more than ever, girl spa party operators need capital to continue to offer an alternative to young girls for birthdays, end of school year celebrations, play dates, and milestones reached.

Marketing was another struggle because there is no real category for this type of business. Normally, I have to choose something similar to event planner to ensure we are properly placed for max visibility. I have definitely learned over the years that they majority of parties come via referral. I know that every girl who comes to a party is just as special as the birthday girl so I work hard to make sure each guest has the best experience possible.

Glam It Up Events is all about creating events, celebrations, and workshops that are meaningful and fun. We understand that beauty is more than skin deep and is about finding self-worth. Our parties are designed to promote the beauty within as we celebrate birthdays and special occasions. We host parties from 1.5 hours up to 3.5 hours. The Glam Trailer Lounge can be rented up to 10 hours daily for movie shoots, photography, waiting lounge, dressing room, and more.

Glam It Up Events is designed to host all-inclusive spa-themed birthday parties for ages six and up, social events, corporate events, wedding, prom events and much more. Through a combination of creativity and vast resources, there is no limit as to where we can take your next event.

We are passionate about helping women and young girls realize their own beauty and find a place to express themselves. We seek to provide a unique and unforgettable experience that is rooted in self-care, confidence, creativity and relaxation. Our goal is to put each girl in the spotlight and make her feel beautiful and special.

This summer, girls will have an opportunity to engage in hands-on STEM/STEAM based activities while having a fun time engaging with a variety of fun projects. Our Glam Lab session includes a make and take home project which participants have customized with their own creativity during the Glam Lab session.  Our guests will have the opportunity to make and customize sugar scrub, lip gloss, bath bombs, and more! The workshop will incorporate brains and beauty! At the end of the party or workshop, each guest will be allowed to take home. These sessions will take place in Pasadena, CA at Garner Exchange or any location of choice!
