Today we’d like to introduce you to Ieshia Jackson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my brand Belikeus due to the pandemic in 2020. I always wanted to be a fashion designer and model. Growing up I would collect magazines and cut out pictures of beautiful models in their extravagant dresses and paste them on my wall. I would dream of one day gracing the cover of a magazine and designing gowns and making clothes for the celebs. So one day I was on YouTube and came across a video that teaches how to make clothes. I then realize my dream was just beginning. I ran to the store and bought everything I would need to make a pair of pants. They came out perfect I was so in awe at the fact that I made my first pair of pants. Next, I taught myself how to design t-shirts and turn one of my bedrooms into a design studio. And created my brand Belikeus which stands for be you even when people think you are weird. The business was slow so I began picking up modeling gigs. I was chosen to walk in LA and Nwy Fashion Week and showcase my brand in Dubai. I also debut my brand in London earlier this year and I have been in a couple of magazines article. This is only the beginning for me.
This journey was difficult at the beginning of my career. The pandemic made business slow. I was working a full-time job and running my business, things were rocky. I would pull an all-night to create garments for my consumers. Building clientele has always been tough for me. I started modeling to make up for the earning I lost. Modeling is also a passion of mine but being a curve model is difficult as well. You have to work twice as hard. As of today, my modeling career is taking me places. I recently did a show in Hawaii for Victoria Henley from ANTM season 19. And I also did a runway show in Beverly Hill at Warner Bros studio. My business started to pick up after I designed garments for 20 models for a fashion show earlier this year in London UK.
I specialize in streetwear and evening wear. I am known for creating garments with unique colors that don’t normally go together. I design for runway models and I also walk the runway. I also promote other brands on social media. I am most proud of the opportunity I have received so far. My family gets to watch me live out my dreams. I am determined to become an international fashion designer and curve model. This year I want to do more interviews, and fashion shows, and get featured in more magazines.
