Today we’d like to introduce you to Deirdre Murray-Holmes.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began my career in the late 80s and early 90s in San Diego working as a stagehand before moving to Los Angeles and getting into film and television first as an editor and eventually as a producer. Over time my interests expanded and I began learning cinematography, which became a real passion. I’ve been lucky enough to DP some great projects including short films, several web series, and even some reality TV. In time I stepped up to writing and directing, really rounding out my resume.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always struggles, and I think that’s the way it should be. If things are coming easily they’re probably not worth having. I like to feel like I’ve really earned what I have. That’s not to say that I enjoy struggling; but I don’t like things handed to me either. I think the biggest struggle for me has been learning which people are genuine and which are all talk. This is a skill that comes with time and experience. I’m not sure anyone can teach you how to tell which frogs are really princes just by looking – you just have to kiss a bunch of them.
6360 Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
6360 Productions started in 2007 as a group of passionate, like-minded individuals who wanted to create great content. In the 10 years since, we’ve made dozens of short films, commercials, branded content, music videos, sketch comedy, web series, and participated in seven 48 Hour Film Projects. What I love most about 6360 is that we create not only branded content for businesses – that element that sustains us as a company – but we also create unbranded content for the sheer joy of creating art. It’s that balance that sets us apart.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
6360 has completed six 48 Hour Film Projects; every time we wrap one is a moment of pure joy for me. Three of our films have won awards and that’s has been icing on the cake.
