Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandt Wille.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I originally moved to Los Angeles in 1997 to pursue an acting career. I worked professionally as an Actor until 2006, when I decided to move behind the camera and start making my own projects. Just like all the things I do in life, I dedicated all of my time into learning as much as I could about the process of making a films. I bought a camera and a computer and invested in myself. I stayed up all night many times over teaching myself how to edit through trial and error. Over time I developed my skills not only as an editor but as a storyteller. I began to work as an editor for hire and slowly developed a business. I branched out and started helping other filmmakers bring their stories to life. I naturally transitioned into helping others Produce Projects as this skill was one I learned out of necessity. as the years continued to pass I began to enjoy the process of putting something together from start to finish. I started branching out and challenging myself by working with people much more advanced than I was. Even though I was an experienced Editor, Director and Filmmaker I took jobs that I was overqualified for so I could learn a new field. I branched out into the Multi-camera Projects.
I wanted to explore what it looked like to Shoot and Produce projects with a much more technical approach. This was a challenge I embraced and again I found myself staying up all hours into the night so I would be able to communicate and understand what my coworkers were doing. Again as the years past and I grew more confident in my Skills and Knowledge base, the opportunities began to present themselves. Now 17 years later I am fortunate enough to work with some of the biggest Entertainment Companies in the Market. I have produced Shows seen on HBO, Netflix and Amazon. I have directed and produced a Feature Length Documentary that audiences responded very well too. I have Produced Livestreams for most of the Major Music Festivals in the US and Abroad. I have been blessed to work with some amazing people and would not be in the position I am without the guidance and support of all of them.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest struggles along the way have always been self-doubt. In order to get to the places you want to get to you have to challenge yourself. You have to take a leap of faith and face all of your fears in order to really become the person you want to become. Self Doubt will always creep in and get in your way. It will prevent you from so many things and it is a constant battle that you must always be aware of. No matter who you are or what you want to achieve self-doubt will always exist. As an actor, I had to decide one day that I no longer wanted to wait for others to accept me. I wanted to take things into my own hands so I started the process of learning how to do that. In that process, I let go of my desire to want to be seen as a person and gained a desire to want to be seen as a storyteller. I doubted myself through this entire process but I kept going and pushing and fighting through my fears. Self Doubt will always exist so now I recognize what it is I am doubting and face it head on. I still fail but I learn and grow from those failures.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Currently, I specialize in Live Multi-Camera Cinema Productions. I mainly work in the Live Music Genre but I also produce Comedy Shows as well. These are the two largest Multi Camera Markets. At the moment, I am making a name for myself as a Producer n the Livestream Market working with one of the Leaders in the Livestream Market, Fortress Entertainment Group.
The project I am most proud of today is one of my most recent projects. I had the honor to follow a group of Female Olympic Athletes on their journey to the Olympics. IT was an amazing journey and the film we made from that journey beautifully represents these woman and their struggles.
I think what sets me aside is my dedication to myself. I set such high standards for myself that I am constantly struggling to meet those standards and that shows in my work. I lead by example.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
When I was in High School, I watched as my best friend fought and lost a battle with cancer. He battled for 16 months and lived over a year longer than expected. I played Football and made a promise to him that I would win the MVP of the All-Star game at the end of my Senior Year. I forgot that I made that promise to him and went out and did exactly that. I won the MVP of that game and he was the first person to come up to me and congratulate me. He said “You Did it”. It wasn’t until that moment that I remembered the promise I made him. He passed away about 2 months later and knowing that I was able to do that for him while he blessed us in this life is one of the proudest moments I have experienced in life.
