

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Sunnaa.
Hi Michael, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in the mortgage and real estate business for 25 years. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for helping people. Having held almost every position in mortgage, I was able to see that the industry needed a disruptor. Someone to come along and Do Mortgages Differently. What this meant to me was to take the focus off the bottom line and place the focus on doing the right thing for all the people that I come in contact within a day. From our employees to our referral partners, to our vendors, and finally our clients, we want to ensure that the focus of our job in to provide them with the best service and do right by them. There’s an old Zig Ziglar saying that inspired this attitude – “You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.” So where most companies focus on the bottom line first, we focus on the people we work with and know that this approach will feed our bottom line.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The American economy is driven by the financial, tech, and military industries. As a mortgage company, you are sitting in the middle of the most delicate ecosystem that exists…the financial industry. The road is not only bumpy, but the future isn’t always foreseeable. Yes, there are patterns and historical data that we get to use when forecasting, but there are outside influences that we don’t see coming. Some of the big events have been 9/11 and the Coronavirus outbreak.
We’ve been impressed with Viewpoint Lending, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Viewpoint Lending is a full-service mortgage company that focuses on the home buyer and those that are current homeowners that want to put themselves in a better financial position. A mortgage loan officer is one of the few people in life that knows the most about their clients. They uncover everything from job history, savings, debt, and retirement planning. Along the way, your clients will talk to you about their family needs, health, and what keeps them up at night. At Viewpoint Lending, we not only focus on giving people the best options for their mortgage, but we want to use our knowledge to help guide them along their path to retirement and estate planning.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you are breaking into the mortgage business, the million-dollar advice I can give you is to be diligent about your client database. Have a CRM (Client Relationship Manager) and make sure you put everyone you know and everyone you meet in that CRM. Record their birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and reach out to them regularly. Stay top of mind.
