Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Weitman.
Hi Chloe, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After years of hunting for vintage, antique, and contemporary pieces for my personal collection, I decided to start selling jewelry myself. I began selling on Instagram in January 2021 while completing my bachelor’s degree in Art History at the University of Southern California (USC) and my AJP at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Though the company is based in Los Angeles, I travel throughout the United States to find unique pieces for the store. As an extension of my own interests, the shop specializes in vintage charms and pendants but carries all things gold: chains, rings, etc.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I started selling jewelry in 2021, I used Instagram to facilitate all of my sales. As the business grew, it became increasingly difficult to manage everything through Instagram DMs. After about a year, I gave in and decided to make a website. While the adjustment was difficult at first, it has automated so many steps of the selling process and now I couldn’t imagine life without it!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Yeah It’s Jewelry sells solid gold, never plated and we carry a mix of vintage and contemporary designs. The great thing about solid gold is that it doesn’t tarnish and holds its value. We sell all types of jewelry but charms and chains are easily our best category.
There is something addicting about collections charms: finding pieces that are meaningful to you, watching your collection grow, learning about jewelry history, etc.
It has been amazing to see my customers fall in love with collecting gold jewelry and leaving plated jewelry behind for real gold that can be passed down for generations.
