Meet Matthew Geiger of FSP Designs in Monrovia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Geiger.

Matthew, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Let’s go back to 1993. I was a Freshman in High School. I was in art class, which the teacher decided maybe art wasn’t my thing, so they moved me to Graphics Class. That was the start. Printed my first T Shirt that year. Took the class all 4 years of High School. My senior year, the teacher said, “Geiger, you’re in my class again? First half of the year do your work, second half, do what you want.” That was perfect, I was able to print Shirts and Stickers for my Band. After high school, I took 4 semesters at the Pasadena City College Graphics Class, then went on tour with my band. In 2001, after the tour, the singer and I decided to open a print shop to make shirts for our band. A few years after, he moved away and I stayed with the company, eventually leaving my full time, well paid job at the post office, to print full time. All this time we we’re working out of my garage, until the company was getting a bit crammed, so we moved to a warehouse in Pomona for a few years, then Lincoln Heights for 2 years, then in 2010 moved to downtown Monrovia, where we’ve been ever since and plan to stay.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been too bad of a time, even though I went from a steady well-paid job, to an unpredictable business working 12+ hours a day, I would never change a thing.

FSP Designs – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We print almost anything. We specialize in almost all aspects from screen printing, graphic design, embroidery, heat applied graphics, sublimation, signage, offset printing, and more. We don’t like to say NO, we like challenges, that’s how I’ve built the business, always try new things. That’s what has built the company, along with my team, they kick ass. We’re always buying new equipment for new avenues to take the company, so we can offer new items and print methods to our customers.

In 2015 we revamped our website. Design and Order Online Made Easy, where you can design your own logos for Free and order directly online. All online orders are eligible for FREE shipping, this opened the customer base to all over the USA.

We also build team ordering websites, so no more hassle for coaches and teams trying to place complicated custom orders, and fundraising websites to help raise money for many causes.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I don’t think I have a proudest moment, I’m proud of everything that we have done so far and everyone that has been involved in the journey, (e.g. Family, Friends, Employees, Customers, etc.) but no proudest moment. Maybe someday there will be, but 1 day at a time.
