

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Masterson.
Hi Madeline, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Seattle Native originally, Amazon grew in my backyard so it was only natural for me to spend a couple of years with the company. I worked in intellectual property and brand protection, closely with the legal and policy teams to implement a policy that directly affected Amazon sellers. Eventually, I realized I could be much more effective in helping brands in the private sector so I left and moved to SoCal to run Amazon brands at a firm. My biggest takeaway with marketing firms, consultancies, or agencies is that they don’t keep their client’s success as their number one priority. There is a culture of overloading account managers so work is not delivered equally to all clients. I saw this and it didn’t sit right with me so The Master Agency was born.
We’re dedicated to long-term partnerships and delivering sustainable results to all those we represent. We don’t overload our account managers and keep a reasonable client/account manager ratio to ensure the quality of work and as a gesture of dedication to our clients. We have a low attrition rate because we develop close relationships with all of our brand partners.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
We had an immediate and unforeseen challenge, one of our founding members passed away suddenly a few months into the business. He was an experienced entrepreneur and a close friend and mentor to me. I had to immediately step into his shoes and learn how to run and grow a company from the ground up with no guidance.
It’s been a little over a year and a half and the learning curve has been steep but I’m very grateful every day that I get to do what I’m passionate about. I know that the new skills I have developed and will continue to develop, and the challenges in front of me are part of the journey. The Master Agency suffered a personal loss but we have continued to grow and stay the course, for that I know he’d be proud.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We help brands launch and grow on Amazon.com as well as other platforms by implementing proven strategies and optimizing a brand’s core product offering(s). We run it A-Z, from inventory support to PPC management to product R+D to P+L ownership.
What do we specialize in?
We are specialists in all things e-commerce with heavy emphasis on Amazon. We’ve worked in all categories, all country orgs, all catalog and brand sizes. Our priorities are to use what we know works on Amazon to create a customized strategy for each client, complete with KPI tracking and reporting.
What sets us apart from others?
We’re long-term partners. We’re not consultants. We work closely with our partners to the point that they view us as their Amazon department, not an outside agency. We don’t take on more work than we can handle so each partner gets the value out of their investment.
What are we most proud of brand-wise?
TMA is a woman, veteran, attorney, manufacturer, brand, and former amazonian owned e-commerce marketing firm. Our perspective on Amazon is one of experience, combined we have almost 30 years on Amazon. Each challenge that our partners experience is one we have also felt and had to resolve for ourselves, so we understand the emotional struggle while implementing an objective strategy.

Any big plans?
Our future is bright! Amazon is an ever-changing landscape so there is always so much to plan for and constant adjustments that need to be made. Essentially, we want to continue to grow and see our clients succeed.
I have been working on creating more free content for new sellers or for brands who need guidance so that Amazon can be a more inclusive space without gatekeeping knowledge.
