Today we’d like to introduce you to Shary Junco.
Hi Shary, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my career as a graphic artist and quickly became a director. I have directed so many projects I stopped counting. I worked well over 15 years alongside high-level business executives in marketing firms and became bored of selling major brands so I studied voice acting. My coaches inspired me to move to LA. I met a comedian that drew me into the live standup comedy scene and was hooked. I knew how to sell an idea or image very well which allowed me the opportunity to network while directing graphics for the Laugh Factory by day and running the box office at the Improv by night. When the pandemic shut everything down, I started running my own shows under the name of 323 Comedy, WeHo’s area code. I now promote comedians and actors. Book and run my own comedy shows. I can build you a podcast studio, then edit your episodes from start to finish. Consider me your one-stop-shop for all your entertainment marketing needs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the three years, I have moved here to transition my career from a creative director to producer, it has been quite successful but also rough on my personal life. My sister passed away right after I moved here then the pandemic shut the world down right when I was finally building traction as an artist in live standup comedy and entertainment. To make it all worse, my high school sweetheart and husband of 20 years separated. Keeping my eye on the goal has been very tricky with so much growing up in a very small period of time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I pride myself in being a creative jack-of-all trades. I specialize in almost everything, and I do it well. A mini firm wrapped into one crazy Cuban lady. Your one-stop-shop for design, photography, filming, marketing, programming, editing and running stand-up comedy shows. I’m very good at making people look good and I’m having a lot of fun doing it.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I am a huge Stephen King fan and lover of dark humor. Recently fell in love with ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck’. My friends are hilarious, so you will likely catch me listening to Joe Code in my car, or watching Harland Highway Podcast on YouTube. Harland is a friend and client so I have been editing and publishing his collection of short stories which I find quite addictive. My resources in life tend to be things that inspire me, I am big on storytelling so anything in fact or fiction that sparks an idea or helps my imagination thrive are what helps me do my best at the work that I do.
