Conversations with Gohar Grigorian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gohar Grigorian. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Gohar Grigorian is a 28 years old freelance Concert Curator, A&R, and Music Influencer based in Los Angeles.

The joy of live music introduced her to the world or artist management. The start of her music career is credited to a podcast co-hosted with Emma Hunter called Unmastered. Going to more concerts to connect with more people, she began the Tunes Go Hard Music Blog, Curating Playlists and contributing to The Music Enthusiast Blog with interviews and Concert Photography. While learning about the music industry, she started offering Artist Development Consultations to those interested. That is when the Tunes Go Hard Discord Server came into light.

Currently, Gohar is a Music Curator and A&R to her own company Tunes Go Hard where she has booked and produced over 50 shows featuring some of the best emerging artists in LA over the last 2 years. While hosting these events, she also dedicates her time to building her community of like-minded creatives in Los Angeles and all over the world. In addition, she sells merchandise to elevate the concert-going experience.

You can find her @TunesGoHard everywhere on the internet.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. The entertainment industry has a lot of hurdles to cross before you can feel like you’ve accomplished something and even when you do, a sense of imposter syndrome sets in and in my case the power of perception is what I think I have. I do feel very fulfilled in my line of work and I trust with the connections I’ve made on my journey to where I currently am, it will reward me with people who will put me in the right rooms.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I first started working in the music industry because I was so intrigued by the musicians themselves, what made them tick and quite frankly why did I find them so interesting. I learned later on, especially in the era of TikTok, that no matter how good or bad the music is, the audience ultimately wants to connect with the person or people behind the music.

Think of it this way, the last thing you want to hear from someone online is “link in bio” or “out now” especially when they have no connection with that person, why should we listen to your music? But when you eat hot wings and try to answer hard-hitting questions about your life as a creative, the process of getting to know you become entertaining. Then people become more interested in your art.

I have built a community of people just by going out and supporting the artists in the Los Angeles music scene and just for that they are grateful. But the audience doesn’t see what I see, and I strive to show it to them.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Nepotism plays a huge role in the arts and just as deinfluencing is trending for the makeup industry, I think with people like me, there will be a shift in how they let budding creatives in. The higher up’s choice on who becomes successful is not very calculated right now.
