Today we’d like to introduce you to Gustavo Gonzalez and Juan Carlos Batres.

Hi Gustavo and Juan Carlos, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
FUERZA was an idea drawn out of dream.

However, This idea was far stretched because we both worked our regular jobs in the profession and were caught up with life. Once COVID hit, it was a catalyst to making this dream a reality. It gave us a reset button and re-evaluate what it was we really wanted to do. To own a gym, but not just a regular gym, a gym for anyone and everyone. to build an intimate and uplifting community through our members. One where it becomes a second home. One where you meet people and befriend them. To get you out of your comfort zone and share common interest with others. TO LIFT WEIGHT AND FEEL GREAT ABOUT YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS!

With any business comes ground rules. The most important rule we have zero tolerance for negativity because that’s not what FUERZA is about. We take pride in our gym and also want our members to feel the same way. Safe in a community full of uplifting members.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
We faced many challenges trying to make FUERZA reality. Our first and biggest concern was the area. There is a lot of competition out there, therefore we tried finding a place that was secluded from these locations but also manageable to reach for potential members.

It became frustrating when the areas we really liked had many restrictions such as: no gym zone, not enough square footage, only certain service hours and limited parking.

A big part of our goal were the 24/7 hours. Remember, this was after COVID, so we figured landlords were in need of filling up their units. However, it was heading to a point where we were willing to compromise our service hours in order to make FUERZA gym a reality due to the growing frustration and landlords not allowing 24/7 access. Luckily we have an amazing broker, Sam Monempour, Vice President of NAI Capital Investment Services Group, who found us a great location, represented us and till this day assists us.

Another obstacle we faced was finding an honest contractor. We inquired to many contractors and chose a more economical one which turned out to be a disaster. The contractor is who sets the ball rolling for our intended opening day and it came to the point where we had to push our opening day by a week. Once we fired the contractor, everything else went smoothly.

Till this day we still face many challenges however we feel more confident dealing with them as they come and learning from them.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
FUERZA is a place for everyone who is determined to reach their fitness goals. With any goal, guidance is strongly advised. Juan Carlos, aside from being co owner of FUERZA is also a head coach with 13 years of experience who specializes in powerlifting, olympic lifting, general fitness & nutrition. Gustavo who is also co owner at FUERZA, has four years of experience and specializes in powerlifting, olympic lifting and general fitness.

We figured there are so many people out there needing coaching and there are only so many hours of the day + clients we can assist. So we drew up the idea of hiring coaches to provide aid to a larger scale of people.

With over 10+ coaches with experience, we are confident we can provide coaching to anyone whether its to get strong, body-build, olympic weightlift or even getting your first pull-up. WE CAN GET YOU THERE!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Both Juan Carlos and Gustavo are 2nd generation Latin Americans coming from big households.
