Life & Work with Bryan Inman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Inman.

Hi Bryan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always loved tiki bars! Shout out to Trader Sam’s at Disneyland! That was my go-to bar that I would frequent for years.

After the Covid lockdown, when people felt comfortable to meet again in person, I naturally had to throw a tiki seemed party.

And in order to successfully throw a tiki theme party, you need to have authentic Tiki drinks (i.e. Mai Tais, Zombies, etc). So I picked up a copy of the book, Smugglers Cove, and then I started picking up a few rums to make these drinks.

And since then I’ve accumulated 209 bottles in my personal collection and have tasted 328 rums in total. As a result, I have been urged by several friends to start this Instagram journey. (@therumchampion).

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been so very humbled and pleasantly surprised at how quickly my following has grown. Since starting this page at the end of September, I am at over 12.k followers.

While that’s been great, and it’s been a heck of a ride, it has been an adjustment. As I find myself more and more on Instagram, responding to comments and messages and business inquiries.

In short, I am trying to find a balance between disconnecting from my phone and making sure I’m getting enough rest and relaxation from it all.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For my day job, I work in tech and enjoy that.

The Rum Champion, ie being an influencer, seems to becoming more and more prominent, as I have partnered with several distilleries domestic and international he as well as some independent bottlers to promote their products.

The purpose of the ram champion is to show people, especially Americans, that there’s so much more to rum than Captain Morgan or the million-flavored Bacardi rums out there.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I am Irish, so I was born lucky. All joking aside, I have an amazing support, Netwerk of friends and family, who encourage me to continue on this journey, as well as being privileged to connect with people all over the world who are as enthusiastic about rum as I am.
