Hidden Gems: Meet JoJo Williams of Massage and Birthing by JoJo

Today we’d like to introduce you to JoJo Williams.

Hi JoJo, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After being in social services for over 25 years, I decided to dive into studying and transitioning to a career that has always spoken to my heart, massage therapy & maternity support. While working full-time, I enrolled in massage therapy school studying evenings and weekends. I then began working part-time as a massage therapist for a spa and with a private clientele. As I gained more experience, I felt a connection to energy work, craniosacral therapy, lymphatic drainage and maternity support. My studies and expertise then led me to specializing in prenatal and postnatal massage therapy. as well as doula support. I made the transition into a full-time massage therapy career about 10 years ago and started my own business in 2019 with added Doula Support specializing in maternity care.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Through the first year of my business, I realized my space was not suiting my needs or the growth of my business. I began to search for a new location which was challenging due to rising costs of rent as well as increasingly high business costs. I had a mission to find a better-suited location that would allow me to grow even further while providing a more nurturing space for my lovely clients. I found exactly that and more! I launched the relocation of my business Nov 1, 2022. I am now settled and loving my new sacred space to share with my community.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am very passionate about supporting families through their maternity experience and beyond. My business brand was created as a place for those desiring maternity support and specialized massage therapy services to support prenatal wellness as well as postnatal recovery. My services have also been curated to address massage therapy needs for the whole family. I also offer specialty holistic treatments using applications of lymphatic drainage, Craniosacral therapy, energy healing using Usui Reiki & Siwa Murti, a Balinese healing energy modality.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
While I specialize in prenatal & postnatal massage, I have a menu of massage modalities to offer the whole family. After many requests, I will be pursuing infant massage training & certification. I look forward to adding infant services to my offerings in the future. I love to connect with my clients and provide a safe space for others to let go of what no longer serves.
