Conversations with Tiffany Rebecca Royale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Rebecca Royale.

Tiffany Rebecca, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Since the age of three, I have always known what I wanted to be when I grew up. I guess you can say that I was a natural-born entertainer. Always performing for whomever I could get to watch. I was a dancer, cheerleader, on drill team, in band, choir, took piano lessons, made my childhood friends participate in skits I directed when they just wanted to play or have a regular old slumber party. It makes me laugh thinking about it now. I was having full on productions writing scenes with musical performances, dance numbers and costumes. It wasn’t until high school though that the acting bug really hit me. I felt at home on stage in the theatre. From then it was on and poppin! I graduated and went on to get my Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from Grambling State University and followed it up with getting my Masters of Fine Arts Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I was in their Professional Actors Training program. I intensely studied the art and craft of Acting and honed my skills. I then returned back home to California and hit these LA streets auditioning and networking. I also started laying the foundation for the Production Company I wanted and now have. It was a thrilling and challenging journey with LOTS of ups and downs, but I wouldn’t change a thing because of where it has gotten me today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I experienced challenges that I think a lot of actors/artists starting out face. Money, confidence, finding your tribe and support system, and “burn out.” It’s like the perfect storm when you first move to LA and you’re trying to break into the industry. You are pounding the pavement, hustling and grinding with little money, spending majority of your time and energy on a survival day job and keeping the hope alive for your dream by squeezing in moments of possible opportunities that sometimes don’t pan out, You don’t book the role, or you book the role… and you don’t get paid, It is tough. I have experienced so many crazy things over the years. Having to sneak out of work or be late because I had an audition. Risking my job security and for sure paycheck for the possibility and risk of not getting the role. I’ve lost so-called friends because of envy and competition, I’ve worked as a background talent trying to, “play the game” and get union vouchers while being treated horribly. I’ve been told by a director, that I would only make it in this industry if I lost weight. I’ve dealt with the mental and emotional struggle of having to fight LA traffic, driving a bucket. I’ve dealt with subtle racism, sexism, and just the day-to-day obstacles of believing in yourself and your talent. When you are constantly being told no but not being told why, you begin picking yourself apart in an effort to self-diagnosis the issue. Without a solid foundation, vision, and faith, it can be a very hard road to navigate.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an award-winning stage actress, producer, director and writer. I’m a proud member of the Actors Equity Association, and I have had the pleasure to perform everything from Shakespeare to abstract new works. My most noted and memorable role was as Ann Atwater in Mark St. Germain’s, The Best of Enemies, for which I won the NAACP theatre award for Best Actress,

I have appeared in several national commercials, and my film credits include the Sci-Fi drama Descry, Five Star Talent’s, The Mis-Education of Joy, and the hilarious comedy, Punch Drunk Love.

As a writer and producer, I had the opportunity to create and star in The Leading Man, a romantic comedy which took home the fan favorite award at the Vacaville Film festival.

I am a firm believer in creating your own content. This is what led me and my bestie and business partner, Malika Blessing, to start our own production company, Royal Blessing Entertainment. Currently, we our pitching our sitcom, Tess and Jackie, #Life AF. It is a comedy that follows the lives of two best friends, determined to live their “best lives!”

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice would be to learn every aspect of the business. To be yourself and align yourself with like-minded individuals. I’m open to learning from anyone who has vision. I’m currently hiring for mentors! WAKA WAKA, c circle Fozzie Bear.
