Community Highlights: Meet Christian Aguilar of Mas Wavos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Aguilar.

Hi Christian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up loving old folk and country music and wanted to create my own while paying homage to the old. A couple of years ago I recorded and release my own original full-length album. Over the last couple years, I have played some shows here and there but because of the limit of live shows, I have put more focus on writing new music and rediscovering the things that inspire me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Are there any roads that are smooth? I guess that’s what I get for liking dirt roads!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mas Wavos?
Along with playing music I also launched a surf-inspired cut and sew clothing line called Mas Wavos entirely made in Los Angeles, not in a sweatshop overseas. I love the creative process of designing the products and coming up with new ideas. What sets me apart from most brands is that I don’t answer to some big investor or company that is just chasing money. I am a one-man team so I can put my energy wherever I see needed without being controlled or confined. I get to make what I have always wanted to create and do it the way that I find the best. I work directly with the factories so I get to play a part in every step of the manufacturing. If I can speak directly to consumers, I would want to tell them that it is important to know the brands that you support. Every dollar spent plays a huge role in how and where things are made. You, as a customer, are the most important piece of the puzzle because you dictate the free market of how and where things are made.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
No great change has been made without risk.
