Hi Jet, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I established my first gallery in 2019. As a gallerist, the most asked by people around me is “Why do you want to become a gallerist?”
Frankly speaking, I have studied art since I was a child, and I love art. I am also an artist. After graduating from a professional art academy, I traveled to galleries and art museums in various European countries. Suddenly, I found that, rather than being an artist, I prefer to help the artists I like and promote their works of art. Therefore, apart from rational market analysis, opening a gallery is more about love. I like to work with artists, and I like to chat with collectors about culture and art and things deep in the soul.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running an art gallery is actually a very challenging business, starting from building trust with artists to integrating into the local community culture and selling works. An art gallery is a business that accumulates slowly. I believe in long-termism. Without enough patience and belief, it is difficult to sustain enthusiasm for galleries. Every gallery has its unique business model and survival philosophy, which is very interesting.
