Meet Jayne Goldman of Best Life Hypnotherapy in Westchester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayne Goldman.

Jayne, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After completing my MBA, I spent 30 years in the business world before discovering my real passion and talent for guiding people in creating breakthrough changes in their lives.

I became a hypnotherapist because of a success story with my son, Andrew. Andrew has Ataxic Cerebral Palsy, which is related to fine motor and balance. Cognitive processing is significantly impacted and resulted in severe learning delays; he was not reading at age 23. Although he is developmentally delayed, Andrew did have the real ability to read by the time he was in his early teens. However, because he had tried and failed for so many years, he refused to even look at a book and had a very poor self-image. A friend suggested that Hypnotherapy might help him to believe in himself. Through a series of sessions, the Hypnotherapist had him believing that “he was so smart that reading was easy for him.” To my shock, Andrew began to read, driving his self-esteem through the roof! The power of hypnotherapy was obvious to me and from that point forward, I was determined to learn as much as I could about hypnosis and the subconscious mind so I could help others to achieve miracles in their lives, as well.

I received my clinical training from the prestigious Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI) in California, considered the nation’s #1 Hypnotherapy College. I graduated with honors and the distinguished Director’s Award for my achievements in clinical practice. I went on to pursue advanced NLP and Time Line Therapy® certifications from the Tad James Company and also earned additional certifications in Weight Control, Smoking Cessation, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Pain Management and Coping with Loss, among others

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Along with my sheer determination and passion to achieve my professional goals in my private practice, I give a great deal of credit for my success to HMI (Hypnosis Motivation Institute), for making their 12-month program foolproof for launching this rewarding career.

Experienced and very caring Clinical Hypnotherapists instruct each course and they are clever enough to throw in quite a few positive suggestions for student confidence in each classroom session. Mandatory client sessions are required starting at the 6-month mark for graduation and HMI provides free office space in their clinic so there are no excuses NOT to start building experience. Students are all assigned mentors so that we have the support we need, as well as mandatory hypnotherapy hours ourselves, in order to have the experience from the client perspective. Additionally, HMI provides Supervision hours to get any and all questions answered related to our own clients. Instructors are even accessible after graduation, so as a brand new Certified Hypnotherapist several years back, I was extremely well-supported!

Unlike traditional psychotherapy, where a client may see a therapist once a week for years, the challenge with my practice is that because clients typically achieve their goals within 6 hours or less, innovative marketing techniques to attract new clients are critical to keep the funnel full.

Please tell us about Best Life Hypnotherapy.
What sets me apart from other Hypnotherapists is that I specialize in NLP Coaching techniques, of which hypnosis is one tool. NLP is Neuro Linguistic Programming. Neuro is brain process, Linguistic is language and Programming is the programming of the subconscious mind that occurs with continual language. Human beings have thoughts running inside their heads 24/7 and with NLP Coaching, people get to identify those thoughts that are running their life. Then, I utilize techniques to guide them to shift their thinking to thoughts of empowerment, while getting new learnings that enable them to release the old disempowering thoughts.

My approach is to have a 4-hour Power Breakthrough Session for our first appointment. Although 4-hours seems like a long time, it goes by very quickly. During this time, I utilize a technique called Time Line Therapy® and guide my clients in releasing the basic negative emotions of anger, sadness, fear, hurt and guilt. Then, we move on to release limiting beliefs and put a goal into their future. The session concludes with a deep hypnosis session to reinforce all of the positive suggestions and breakthroughs that came out of our time together. As an added bonus, I provide the recording of the hypnosis portion of our session so that my client can continue to derive benefits from my session after they leave my office. I also provide lunch.

I leave my clients with an “assignment” because action is the critical component of change. They need to take action to move into empowerment and create new neuropathways. I hold them accountable and we book a 1-hour follow-up session for a week later.

This process is like peeling back layers of an onion. Once you remove the top layer, what’s underneath becomes visible. When my client returns a week later after having done the assignment, they will typically notice the things that used to cause an emotional charge of anger, sadness, fear, hurt and guilt, don’t anymore. However, they may notice new things that they want to work on that didn’t even come up in the first session. Again, there is an assignment and we book another 1-hour follow-up session for two weeks later. After that time, my client decides whether they want to see me once a month, every two months or just call as needed. At that point, my client has the tools to move forward confidently, knowing that I’m available for support whenever needed.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is spending time with my Grandma Julie… she was such a nut! She was a character who spoke 7 languages fluently, cooked like nobody’s business and sang beautiful songs in French. She looked after me and my brothers while my mom worked when I was in grade school.
