Community Highlights: Meet Christina Chon of KONO

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Chon.

Hi Christina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Kono & Co. initially was born by creating modern friendship bracelets that were inspired by my mom. When my mother was diagnosed with cancer, making these friendship bracelets for people brought us closer and gave us a positive outlet. She passed in 2000 but left so many amazing memories together.

When I got pregnant, all those memories flooded back, and I started to create pieces. My daughter joined us in 2018; she became my inspiration to the collection you have today. Everything is made with Gold Filled to last with you on your daily adventures. Life is busy. Don’t worry about your jewelry. Wear it. Love it. Live in it!

KONO is my daughter. It also means dexterity and leader. The perfect name for my handmade business. <3

Always so grateful to share my story and to be able to share great quality meaningful pieces.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, as a small business owner, you have struggles every day. (haha) You go through so many emotions running this business on a daily basis. I am a full-time stay-at-home mom and running this business full-time. No easy task, but my motivation is always by my side cheering me on.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Kono & Co. offers amazing quality at affordable prices. We specialize in using all gold-filled components so you can shower in them and live in them, and it won’t tarnish like gold-plated items.

Gold Filled has a jeweler’s brass for its core. It has NO lead, NO nickel. Then real solid gold is pressure bonded around that brass with heat. It has a permanent bond. It also has 100X more gold than gold-plated items.

Kono & Co. prides itself in providing pieces that are timeless but also holds special meaning. Don’t just wear a piece of jewelry; wear your story!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My parents used to own a Chinese restaurant growing up, and my sister and I would help out A LOT after school and weekends. It did suck hahaha we were so young, but when I think back, we as a family had so many fun memories made together during those times. <3 Definitely made us closer, and I guess I can thank that for my dedication and hard work! I am where I am because of those moments.
