Hi Brenda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Brenda Angel, an artist and designer from San Bernardino, CA. I was born and raised in San Bernardino, CA, and currently reside there. My journey as a creative started when I was very young. I remember how much I enjoyed drawing, creating, and experimenting with different types of art. Over the years, my interest in the arts grew, which lead me to a career in art.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been times when I have questioned if this is the right career choice for me. However, I believe this career is the right one for me wholeheartedly. The arts allow me to express myself in endless ways. When moments of doubt arise, I take a step back to look at everything I have accomplished.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in bright, bold, and colorful character work. My goal as an artist is to create a world that brings joy and inspires others to explore their imagination. I am known for my hand-painted work on canvas fabric but more recently for my mural work. I have had the opportunity to create several murals this year in the cities of San Bernardino, Pomona, and Redlands. These murals are not only public art. They also create conversations and bring the community together through the arts.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The covid-19 crisis has taught me that art is very healing. In moments of uncertainty, I met many wonderful souls who offered free art classes online during quarantine. People could not leave their homes, so connecting with others through art created a sense of community.
